ShellyLinda has been working for Sterling Portraits since it started in 1976. As Sterling's life partner, she decided she wanted to help him with the creation and development of his photography business. Linda received an Associate's degree in Applied Sciences from Randolph Technical College in Asheboro, North Carolina for photography.

When asked what she liked most about her job, she responded with:

I like solving people’s problems and taking away their fears and worries.   So many people doubt that family or children’s portraits are even possible for them.  I like being part of the process that takes away that doubt and replaces it with joy.

One of my best experiences ever, I think, was in helping a mother to be okay with the idea of being in a family portrait.  She was not happy with the way she looked and did not want to see herself in photographs that way.  I shared with her that my mother had avoided being photographed, probably thinking that she was too heavy, that her hair was bad, that she was not very stylish.  Looking back, objectively, I would say that those things were true.  But what I would not give today for a portrait of my mother with me and my family!  I would not care in the least how she looked in that portrait.  Hearing my story and my feelings, this mother changed her mind and decided to have a family portrait done so that her children could have what my mother’s children could not.  Her joy, her relief, her grateful hug afterwards are some of my best memories.
