Sterling is a native Washingtonian and has his home and gallery in the metropolitan area. He attended St. Albans School and graduated from Georgetown University with a B.S. Degree in 1976.

His passion for creating portraits began in college as an amateur photographer. Now,  with over thirty years in the business, Sterling's portrait art and Collections are found in the finest homes across the country.

On a personal note, Sterling is an avid, competitive  tennis and racquetball player. Other interests include cycling, weight training, scuba diving, travel and weekend getaways on country roads.
