Behind - the - Scenes Portraits

Remember the wonderful black and white images from the 60’s of the Kennedys at Hyannis Port? Timeless, tender and real, unposed and spontaneous, the photographs captured family moments which have become part of the history of the Kennedy family and that we remember fifty years later. Our Behind-the-Scenes portraits echo the style and feeling of those photojournalistic images of the past that are etched in our minds and that we all admired so much.

The two comments most often made by our clients at their consultations are, “We are a casual, relaxed family,” and “We don’t want portraits that look overly-posed”. Behind-the-Scenes was born to address these concerns by capturing children and adults just the way they are. It is a wonderful complement to our traditional portraiture.

Our Behind-the-Scenes portraitist is Lida Verner. She is incredibly talented at “seizing the moment” with her camera. She unobtrusively watches, waits and anticipates the interaction between couples, children and other family members. The moments of affection, tenderness, laughter, and sometimes tears, are fleeting—much too fleeting for Sterling to capture with his tripod-mounted camera and more refined style. Lida is poised with her telephoto lens to truly capture the magic of the family dynamics and the portrait experience. So powerful are her images that more than two thirds of the images selected by our clients are hers.

Behind-the-Scenes images are shown to you along with Sterling’s portrait art and are only available in black and white. They are priced the same as Sterling’s black and white images. They may be purchased as individualy-matted and framed art pieces, included in Story Boxes, Mini Galleries and albums, or as the images in your Portrait Art Miniatures wall grouping. And, of course, Sterling’s and Lida’s images may be combined in a First Edition coffee table book designed to showcase the delightful interplay between the two styles.
