Preparing For An In-Home Portrait Session
Selecting an area.
If you have any preferences, let Sterling know in advance
or on the day of your location preview. He will make the final decision
as to which area(s) of your home will produce the best results. If there
any changes you are planning on making to the area (repainting, redecorating,
etc.) discuss them with Sterling before he leaves.
Preparing the area.
Before the portrait session, vacuum and dust the selected
areas, wipe down windows and glass surfaces and remove any clutter such
as newspapers and magazines.
When we arrive.
On the day of the portrait session, we will spend about
thirty minutes moving furniture and setting-up equipment. We will probably
not need your assistance during this period and will work fastest if undisturbed.
However, please do not hesitate to ask any last-minute questions you might
have.
Clothing.
When we arrive we can review your clothing selections and make
adjustments. (Remember, in almost all sessions you must dress head-to-toe.)
We will let you know a few minutes before we are finished setting up so
that you can dress the youngest children and do final hair and clothing
checks.
During the portrait session.
A portrait session inside your home can seem
loud and chaotic if there is too much activity and noise. To help, everyone
should wait elsewhere while we set up, people not being photographed should
wait in another room until it is their turn and adults should let Sterling
direct the children. If we are using more than one area in your home, everyone
can take a ten-minute break while we relocate the equipment. This is a
good time for a snack.
After the session.
After we have finished, we will put all your furniture
back in place. We may need your guidance to position it properly.
